I am always curious to see how people find this blog. When I started nine months ago, I was disappointed to discover that the site could not be immediately found on google the day it was created. How naive! I quickly found that building a presence on other sites was the way to attract visitors. It has also made this hobby more interesting.
Are you curious too? Thought you might like to see my top referring sites for 2009 based on what Google Analytics tells me. It may help you to build more traffic:
TOP 10 TRAFFIC SOURCES
1. Google search
2. blogger.com
3. foodbuzz.com
4. blogcatalog.com
5. friend connect module (when your profile picture is added to other blogs)
6. foodieblogroll.com
7. en.petitchef.com
8. adashofflavour.blogspot.com
9. themomblogs.com
10. cookeatshare.com (interestingly I was not the one to add posts to this site but I have since joined)
I am not very active on the networking sites as I simply do not have the time. However, just having a presence there has increased visitors. These sites are also full of interesting recipes.
Good Luck!

You are doing a great job with your blog. And I really love seeing the photos of your land and hearing stories about living in Australia.
Thanks for this. I have a presence on most of these but a few still to add, that was really useful and also reminded me to go and look at my own analytics!
I don't do much online networking, don't really have the time. Perhaps I should. I love your blog and recipes.
Yes, it takes time to get found and it can be a lot of work. I was insanely busy over spring/summer and hardly blogged or commented on other blogs at all and I certainly noticed a drop in visitors. I'm on a farm too so will be sure to check out your blog more often!
Thanks for this information. Ur right, you could write all you want but you need traffic and people to see ur work. This info is going to help a lot of us..to increase the traffic.
Wishing You and ur family a happy 2010.
Interesting to see you get hits from peitchef - there has been some debate recently amongst food blogger as to whether it's worth signing up with them or not. Looks like it's paid off for you.
I’d like to personally invite you to join the CookEatShare Author network. CookEatShare has had over 2.5 million unique visitors in 2009, and I think they will be interested in your content. Users will be guided to your actual blog, so this is a free way to increase page views and visitors to your site.

I came here from foodieblogroll, I clicked on blogs by country because I am an Aussie, I clicked yours because I live in the country lol. I can't wait for my internet speed to come up tomorrow to explore some more.
